Music
Icelandic natives like their music, and they hold several festivals annually, including Secret Solstice in June, at a time when the island gets a lot of the midnight sun. Other festivals abound throughout the year as well.
This also means Iceland has a rich nightlife, with many live music venues, dance clubs, and other interesting things to do once the clock passes the dinner hour, as the sun only goes down briefly during summer months.
The Northern Lights and The Midnight Sun
Speaking of things that happen after dark, the famed Icelandic midnight sun is especially showcased in June, when it is most prominent. The Northern latitude means there is almost 24 hour daylight from mid-May to late July.
When it isn’t bright summer, from September until mid-April is the best time to see the Northern Lights in Iceland, one of the best reasons to visit during the winter months as well.
Cycling
Some of the best cycling in the world can be found in Iceland, whether you want to cycle around the island on flatter terrain, or gain some significant elevation over mountain landscapes.
